The Recruitment Company has announced the appointment of Geoff Millar as its new Managing Director. The appointment comes after Simon Moss, the previous MD, moved into a Chairman function and out of the day to day operations of the business.
Both Geoff and Simon joined The Recruitment Company as consultants and have grown organically to their current positions.
Formerly the Sales Director, Millar said of the move, “this is an extremely exciting opportunity for me. I’ve learnt so much already with The Recruitment Company, and I’ve loved every minute to date, so this next chapter is even more exciting. I’ve got some amazing plans for the company and I think the next few years will be both challenging and hugely rewarding. I’m honoured that Simon and the other owners believe in me enough to take on this role, although I do suspect that Simon is just hoping he can spend more time sat in his garden”
Moss said, “I’ve been at the helm of the company for many years and we’ve achieved some amazing things in that time, from being named as Australia’s 10th best place to work, to our recent rebrand, but to be honest I think the time is right for a fresh face and voice at the helm.
Geoff is someone who runs 100km at weekends for fun. That’s not what I’d class as normal behaviour, but it does make him exactly the kind of person I want running my company. Geoff has an amazing energy and I’m excited about what The Recruitment Company can achieve with that energy driving us.”
When asked what he was going to do next Moss says, “no idea yet, maybe I’ll finish the MBA I’ve been doing for the last 11 years. I think I’m supposed to say that I want to spend more time with the family but they’re already asking me when I’m going back into the office. I’ve only been at home for 3 days”
Moss added, “The best position any business owner can be in is to have a team running their company whose skills surpass their own. I’m extremely lucky to have Geoff, who will develop into an exceptional MD and to have him supported by Sarah, our Director of People & Performance, who I believe to be one of the best HR managers in our industry, and one of Australia’s thought leaders in building company culture. The move comes following two consecutive record years for The Recruitment Company, with their revenue topping 30m for the first time in 2015.
