How the video recruitment process is making hiring easier
Tuesday October 30, 2018
As in almost every industry, recruiters are always looking for ways to improve the quality of their work, while also speeding up the process and allowing them to get more done. In recent years, new technologies have made these improved workflows possible, with one of the biggest developments coming in the arena of interviewing .
Thanks to faster internet speeds, a proliferation of camera-equipped devices and new video recruitment platforms that allow for transmission and recording at the press of a button, it's now possible to conduct interviews without having to be in the same room. The benefits of this approach are significant, and can have an impact on everything from how long recruitment takes to the overall quality of each candidate secured.
One benefit of switching to remote video interviews is that it becomes possible to see far more candidates.
Speed and convenience
First things first, the obvious benefit of switching to remote video interviews is that it becomes possible to see greater numbers of candidates, and in a much more efficient way. Not only is the need for travel eliminated, but it's also possible to utilise video interview programs that are fully automated, where candidates respond to questions without an interviewer even being present on the other end of the connection.
This automated approach was recently used by Hilton Worldwide as part of its global recruitment efforts, with the company's Vice President of Global Recruitment, Rodney Moses, explaining to the Washington Post that the benefits aren't just for recruitment teams: "[Every candidate] gets the same level of interview. It's very objective. Everyone gets the same questions, everyone gets a chance to tell their story."

Variety and sustainability
In addition to creating a simplified, level playing field for candidates, video recruitment technology can also help address issues of diversity within a workforce by breaking down geographic barriers. In industries such as technology, where companies are increasingly needing to pull talent from different regions, video recruitment ensures that candidates from all over the world can be reached, considered, and possibly hired.
While this leads to more inclusive and diverse workforces, it also provides recruiters with an ongoing database of unsuccessful applicants from which to fill future positions. In years gone by, a recruiter would have to remember a particular interviewee, and try to recall whether or not that candidate may be suitable for a current vacancy. With video, it's possible to simply pull up the recording, and see whether or not they're a good fit.
For all of these reasons, we're seeing video become a pillar of the recruitment industry, and you can find out more about the benefits by getting in touch with our team today.
